A HEART WARMING SUCCESS AT THIS YEARS 5TH ANNUAL JOHNNY STRANGE LEGACY SKATE COMPETITION SHINES AT MALIBU’S 42ND CHILI COOK-OFF
5th Annual Skate Competition for Johnny Strange brought a fresh wave of energy this year to Malibu’s 42nd annual Chili Cook-Off, with skaters and fans coming together to honor Johnny’s spirit of adventure and support the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu. This year, the competition was elevated by the presence of the Bones Love Milk team, who not only showcased their impressive skateboarding skills but also educated the youth on the benefits of milk as “nature’s energy drink.” Olympian Bryce Wettstein and skate legends like Christian Hosoi, Dalton Dern , and Christopher Hiett brought excitement to the ramp, offering free lessons and inspiring the next generation of skaters.
The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the Johnny Strange Legacy Skate Competition, where skaters of all skill levels came together for a jam-style contest. This year, Eli Williams and Kasci Woolf took home first place in the Advanced category, earning not only bragging rights but also a share of the $5,000 cash prize. Hosted by The Boardr, the competition was fierce, but the camaraderie and shared love for the sport made it a celebration of Johnny’s adventurous legacy.
The event was more than just a competition—it was a community effort to raise funds for the Boys & Girls Club of Malibu, with proceeds benefiting their mental health and wellness services. The weekend also saw a special appearance from Trevor Jacob, who shared heartfelt stories of Johnny, adding a personal touch to the celebration.
With sponsors like the Johnny Strange Legacy Inspire Skate Program, Bones Love Milk, and Clover Sonoma, the event was a massive success. It was a weekend filled with passion, adrenaline, and the undeniable spirit of Johnny Strange, reminding everyone of the power of adventure and community.
