Thai National Skaters Bring New Energy to Bhutan at our annual 2024 Summer Skate Camp, We’re thrilled to share the latest updates from our Summer Skate Camp at the Johnny Strange Skatepark in Thimphu, Bhutan! This year’s camp, held from July 8 to July 17, was a phenomenal success, thanks in no small part to the incredible efforts of Thai skateboarders James (@lotsofskatestuff) and Toey and of course our valued partners Salad Days of Skating and Bhutan Skates.

James and Toey joined us once again, bringing their expertise and infectious enthusiasm to the summer camp. From shredding the streets of Paro to teaching and inspiring the next generation of skaters at our skatepark, their impact was profound. James, a familiar face at our annual camps, returned with his awesome dedication, motivating the local youth and sharing his skills. Toey’s vibrant presence added an extra spark to the camp, energizing the young skaters and pushing their limits.

The camp included exciting activities like a hike to Dodedra Shedra, where a prayer flag beautifully made by Johnny’s Sister, MacKenna Strange, in honor of Johnny Strange was placed at the summit, and the chance for the kids to learn new tricks and make lifelong friends.

 

The progress seen this summer is a testament to the hard work and passion of everyone involved. Watching the familiar faces and new talents emerge over the two weeks camp has been incredibly rewarding. The camp has once again proven to be a powerful platform for growth, community, and the continuation of Johnny’s legacy.
