Johnny Strange, a Malibu High School graduate, made a historic trip to top of the world this week.
The 20-year-old parachuted onto the North Pole, making him among the youngest to reach the summit of Everest, the South Pole and the North Pole, known as “The Three Poles.”
“It was freezing, but mostly I was too focused on the jump to realize the cold until my parachute opened up. Standing in the Arctic is cold enough, let alone falling through at 125 mph,” Strange told Patch.
He has also climbed the world’s Seven Summits, the highest mountains on each of the seven continents.
“I want to thank all my family and friends for the support, my sponsors Beverly hills Ducati, ColorRite, Reactor Watches & Gamma Labs for helping me get my third and fourth world records,” Strange wrote on his Facebook page.
In a YouTube video, Strange can be seen dressed in an orange protective suit for the cold temperatures. The video shows him jumping out of an aircraft and landing safely on the North Pole.
Strange is a student at the University of Southern California.
